How can I stop kohl from smudging around my eyes?

I live in a hot country and use kohl around my eyes eveyday. It livens up my face. But, by mid day, the black kohl begins to smudge and can make me look tired. I don't want to stop using it because I tend to look insipid without it. Any suggestions? How can I stop kohl from smudging around my eyes?
I had this problem a few years ago (when I was still ';experimenting'; with makeup). There's a couple of possibilities.

For me, it was the fact that I was using a cheap eyeliner (something from the grocery store). If you go for a better brand (I use MAC) I haven't had any problems with it running.

Also, I heat it up by blow drying the end of the eyeliner pencil for a few seconds and then apply it. It's slightly damp so it lasts longer on your skin.

Another thing you could try is applying powder on top to set the eyeliner. There are also products that are made specifically to hold eye makeup in place (like SheLaq by Benefit) but I haven't ever had to use that.

Good luck :)How can I stop kohl from smudging around my eyes?
I just need to make sure...using khol on the inside of the lid will always run out and onto the bottom of the eye.

But if you are using it under your eyelashes then there is hope.

First, you could swap the pencil for the same colour in a matte powder. It works EACTLY the same and can look smokey too - very sexy.

Otherwise, place concealer around the eye area, blend and then 'set' with a loose powder. Feel the skin, it must be silky not sticky. Then put eyeliner on. You may need to touch up with the powder under the eye during the day as heat, work, sweat etc will aid in the powder effect wearing off.
Smudge it with your eye shadow brush, lightly dusted with a dark color before you leave in the morning. Be prepared to touch up during the day unless you can pull of liquid eyeliner (which I never could...)
Avoid using pencil during summer. U can use instead powder eye shadows or the new Kohl in powder from Guerlain. Is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
